The NWC is the peak body representing over 4 000 volunteer wildlife rehabilitators in NSW. These volunteers are licensed under the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974. Most volunteers work within a group although some are individually licensed. The NWC is the coming together of many different groups and individuals to work collectively on behalf of wildlife and wildlife rehabilitators in New South Wales. As the second state council to be formed in Australia we are part of the first steps towards forming a national body which will provide a voice for wildlife rehabilitators and more importantly the wildlife of Australia. The website for further information about the NWC can be found at www.nwc.org.au . By clicking on papers you will be able to access the first two NWC newsletters.

***************************************************************** We often get emails and phone calls from people wanting to become involved in wildlife caring. We always refer them to a local wildlife carer group so they can get good local information and expert assistance. Now Greypath have put an Introductory Course in Wildlife Care on their website. Many seniors would like to become involved in helping wildlife at a local level, and this introduction, which is continually upgraded, is a very handy explanation of what wildlife caring is all about. It’s a very good introduction for those interested in becoming a wildlife carer. Of course it’s still important that anyone wanting to become involved with wildlife caring, should belong to a wildlife care group or network. http://www.greypath.com/taxonomy_menu/44/193 ****************************************************************

http://www.fauna.org.au - is a website sponsored by IFAW. It's main purpose is to act as an online database of Aussie wildlife groups, listing carers, groups, contact details, websites, specialties, area serviced etc. Organisations such as IFAW and Government Departments refer to this when they are trying to contact carers in a particular area, so it is worthwhile making sure your group is on the database.
