The Kangaroo Island Kangaroo subspecies
The scientific name of the Kangaroo Island kangaroo is Macropus fuliginosus.
It grows up to two metres in height. The Kangaroo is considered common, but only in restricted and protected locations. Like all kangaroos it eats grass, sedges, leaves and vegetable matter.

This kangaroo is limited to Kangaroo Island, South Australia. It is believed to be a subspecies of the Western Grey kangaroo, and inhabits open grasslands and timber areas.
Because the kangaroo has been seperated from mainland populations, it has developed differently to other Western Grey kangaroos on the mainland.
It is believed to breed in spring through summer, giving birth to one Joey.
Because there are no natural predators on Kangaroo Island, the Kangaroo Island kangaroos are the slowest moving of all the Kangaroo species.
